NEW ORLEANS — A woman trying to cross the street was struck and killed in a crash with a car Friday morning in Gentilly, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Gentilly Blvd. and Spain Street.
The crash temporarily closed all westbound lanes of Gentilly Blvd. and at least one eastbound lane. All lanes of traffic were reopened by 7 a.m.
Police said the driver of the car was traveling westbound on Gentilly Blvd. when the pedestrian stepped out into the street and was struck.
The driver of the car stopped and attempted to render aid and remained on the scene to talk to investigators.
