Man struck by car in Marigny near Friday night parade route

EMS officials said the man was transported to the trauma center around 7 o'clock Friday night.

NEW ORLEANS — A man was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a car just blocks away from Friday night's Carnival parade, officials said. 

First responders got to the intersection of St. Claude and Elysian Fields avenues around 7 p.m., where they found a man suffering from a head injury after an apparently being hit by a car, EMS officials said. 

The man was rushed to the trauma center at University Medical Center in an ambulance, where his condition is currently unknown.

The incident happened four blocks from the route of the Krewe of Boheme Parade, which crosses Elysian Fields Avenue on Royal Street.
