NEW ORLEANS - Former Judge Yolanda King has been found guilty on two counts of filing false public records in Criminal District court.

King had faced charges that she stated that she lived in New Orleans, while she actually lived in Slidell.

King won a seat on the Orleans Parish Juvenile Court bench in May 2013 and was in that position for about a year when questions arose about her residency status. She lost her seat in a subsequent election.

King tried to defend claiming a New Orleans domicile residence despite having a homestead exemption on her Slidell home. King also had listed St. Tammany Parish as her primary residence in federal bankruptcy papers she filed in 2012, a short time before filling out her candidate statement.
