NEW ORLEANS — A man is dead after a garbage truck struck a bicyclist on Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans Wednesday morning.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the crash happened around 8:49 a.m. in the 1000 block of Carrollton Ave near the intersection with Freret Street. Police say a garbage truck driving northbound collided with a 30-year-old man who was riding a bicycle northbound.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
The NOPD Traffic Fatality unit is investigating the crash.
