$2M in ARPA funding for homeowners in New Orleans

The City of New Orleans announced $2 million from the American Rescue Plan Act is available to help struggling homeowners.

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans announced two million dollars from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)  is available to help struggling homeowners.

The money will support low to moderate income homeowners in the city who need help to pay outstanding mortgage payments and escrow balances used to pay flood insurance and property taxes.

"A total of $2 million is available to be awarded to one program over a 14-month grant period, ending on or before Dec. 31, 2025," the city said in a release.

Local organizations have a deadline of Oct. 1 to apply for the ability to manage those funds.

An information session was held on Tuesday for organizations interested in applying at the Crescent City Farmers Market. 

Another one is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19 from 3 p.m.  until 7 p.m. on 500 Norman C. Francis Parkway. There will also be a virtual information session Tuesday, Sept. 24.
