NEW ORLEANS — After none of the six candidates secured a majority of the vote to replace Royce Duplessis in the state House of Representatives, a run-off will be held on March 25 between Sibil "Fox" Richardson and Alonzo Knox.
Richardson and Knox are both Democrats. Richardson got 37% of the vote while Knox got 31% of the vote respectively, according to our partners at NOLA.com.
Duplessis vacated his seat in the 93rd district in the state House of Representatives after being elected a State Senator.
Richardson is a minister and motivational speaker who was featured in a 2020 documentary film about her efforts to free her husband on parole from a bank robbery sentence.
Knox is the owner of Backaton Coffee Parlour near the former Iberville housing development.
Turnout was low due to the finals weeks of Carnival season overlapping with the election.
