New Orleans Police have made an arrest in the Sunday afternoon shooting in the Holy Cross area.
Investigators have arrested 32-year-old Dwayne D. Smith, just hours after the shooting took place.
According to NOPD, officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting, and located a male in the 1000 block of Lamarche Street.
The adult male had sustained gunshot wounds to his body and was declared dead at the scene.
Smith was later detained at the scene for questioning, where he was found to be the offender of the crime.
He faces one count of second-degree murder.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will not name the victim until the autopsy has been completed.
