NEW ORLEANS — Krewe of Nyx Captain Julie Lea is offering condolences to the family and friends of the woman who died after being run over by a Mardi Gras float during the Nyx parade Wednesday night.
"On such a joyous night, this is obviously a tragic occurrence. The parade takes a backseat when something like this happens on the route. On behalf of the entire Krewe of Nyx, along with the city of New Orleans, we offer our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of the individual involved,” Lea said in a statement.
A woman was run over and killed by the 21st float in the Krewe of Nyx sometime after 8 p.m. near the corner of Magazine and Cadiz Streets.
