MANDEVILLE, La. — The St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s offices combined to search two homes and seize weapons, cash and firearms in a joint operation Thursday.

Byron Seymour, 49, was arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish jail on several counts.

According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, the searches were executed at Seymour’s home near Mandeville and at a home he had ties to in Tangipahoa Parish.

Between the two searches, the sheriff’s office said they picked up four semi-automatic weapons, what they termed a “substantial amount” of illegal drugs and over $38,000 in cash, which they say is believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales at the Mandeville-area home.

The sheriff’s office said Seymour was already on federal probation for a prior drug conviction. He was located at the home in Tangipahoa Parish.

“Criminals don’t know jurisdictional boundaries,” said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith said, “which is why it is important for law enforcement agencies to work together to keep illegal drugs and firearms out of neighborhoods. We have an excellent working relationship with both the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and our federal partners with Homeland Security.”
