Burn ban in effect for Tangipahoa Parish, officials say

Parish issues burn ban due to heat, drought

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — According to parish officials, a burn ban is in effect for Tangipahoa Parish on Saturday until further notice.

Parish President Robby Miller issued the ban due to "extremely dry conditions and at the request of the parish's local fire chiefs," a release said.

Miller said the ban includes all open residential and commercial burning.

The ban does not include:

  • BBQ pits, 
  • grills, 
  • fire pits

Residents are asked to "use extreme caution"  and stay in contact with the local fire department.
