Police determine 'no threat' at Mandeville High

MANDEVILLE, LA. (WWL-TV) -- Mandeville Detectives detained a juvenile Mandeville High Student Friday morning.

Mandeville Detectives, with the full cooperation of Mandeville High School officials, interviewed several students in an attempt to determine the root of the rumored allegations.

No one was located who possessed direct knowledge of any threat of violence, nor was any physical evidence such as videos or text messages, found that would validate or support any rumor of any threat of violence.

Mandeville Detectives, with the assistance of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Cyber Investigation Unit, conducted a forensic examination of the juvenile’s mobile devices as well as his social media accounts.

No evidence of any threat of violence was located. The juvenile was released and no charges were filled.

Mandeville Police Captain Gerald Sticker sent the following message around 7:20 a.m. Friday morning regarding a situation at Mandeville High School:

Mandeville Police are investigating a rumored threat of violence made against Mandeville High School. Detectives have detained the student who allegedly made the threat and are currently working to ascertain the validity of the threat!

There is currently no imminent threat against the school. However, out of an abundance of caution we have additional officers at the school to assist our school resource officer.
