Pedestrian killed in Washington Parish, state police say

BOGALUSA, La. — UPDATE: The Washington Parish Coroner's Office has confirmed the identity of a pedestrian struck by a motorist on July 21 as 42-year-old Joshua Morris of West Feliciana Parish.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, the Louisiana State Police began investigating a single-car crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian who was struck while walking in the southbound lane of LA Highway 21 near Lee's Creek Road in Washington Parish.

According to Troopers from Troop L, the pedestrian was fatally hit by a motorist driving a 2005 Buick LeSabre in the same direction.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. 

The driver of the Buick was properly restrained and uninjured. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from the pedestrian and the driver of the Buick for analysis.

The deceased person's identity has been withheld until notification to next of kin.
