ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — All St. Tammany Parish Public Schools students will return to school tomorrow after a tornado tore through part of the parish Wednesday.
"Thanks to the incredible efforts of our STPPS team, volunteers, law enforcement, parish officials, and everyone else over the weekend, we were able to make necessary repairs to allow students to safely return to all 26 schools on the east side of the parish Monday," school officials said.
The National Weather Service categorized the tornado as an EF-2 with winds up to 120 mph. It slammed into the southern part of Slidell Wednesday, causing extensive damage, multiple injuries, and the knockout of power to 26,000 customers.
