MANDEVILLE, La. — Troopers say a Mandeville man is dead after a single-vehicle crash Thursday on Interstate 12 near LA 59.
According to Louisiana State Police, 53-year-old Edward E. Schwarz was riding a 1997 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle eastbound when "for reasons under investigation" the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the road and crashed into a tree.
Schwarz was taken to Lakeview Regional Medical Center where he later died.
Investigators believe a medical condition could have been a contributing factor to the crash. Impairment is not suspected to have contributed to the crash.
Troopers say Schwarz was wearing a DOT approved motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash. The investigation continues.
