ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — A pedestrian was killed in a single-vehicle crash in  St. Tammany Parish on Monday, according to Louisiana State Police.

Police say the crash happened around 1 p.m. on Interstate 12 near U.S. Hwy 190. The pedestrian was identified as 47-year-old David Brassieur of Madisonville.

Investigators say Brassieur was walking westbound on Interstate 12 when a 2022 Mercedes-Benz motorhome was driving in the same direction.

"For reasons still under investigation, the Mercedes-Benz struck the pedestrian on the roadway," Police said.

Brassieur was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was properly wearing a seatbelt and did not suffer any injuries.

Toxicology samples were taken from Brassieur and the driver of the Mercedes-Benz.
