Causeway tolls: Next week you'll need more than a $5 bill to cross if you don't have a tag

Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou said earlier this year when the price increases were announced, that they were less than he had first feared.

The cost to travel across Lake Pontchartrain starting the middle of next week will be going up. If you are one of the commuters who doesn't have a toll tag, it will cost you $6 to go one way. The tolls are only collected on the St. Tammany side of the span.

Those who use toll tags will be docked $3.40 each time they cross. NOLA.com reports that the new prices will be in effect starting at 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2.

Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou said earlier this year when the price increases were announced, that they were less than he had first feared.

Dufrechou told WWL-TV in April that he estimated that if you have a causeway tag, your $3 fare could increase to $3.60 or $3.70, and the cash toll would increase from five to six dollars or more.
