SLIDELL, La. — A Lacombe woman died Tuesday from injuries she received in a multi-car crash on US Highway 190 in Slidell.
Louisiana State Police say the crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. near Thompson Road. Troopers say a Ford Fusion, driven by 38-year-old Justin Martindale, was driving east when it struck the rear of a Ford Crown Victoria.
Investigators say the force of the crash pushed the Crown Victoria into the westbound lane, where it then struck a Hyundai Elantra head-on.
Martindale, his passengers and the passengers of the Elantra were taken to the hospital with "moderate to serious injuries." One of the Elantra's passengers, 67-year-old Linda C. Adams, died at the hospital.
Everyone was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The passengers in the Crown Victoria were not hurt.
Investigators do not believe impairment to be a factor in the crash. Martindale was ticketed for careless operation. Troopers say the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
