Junior high student arrested for making 'hit list,' St. Tammany Parish Sheriff says

Sheriff Randy Smith heralded his office's commitment to keeping school communities safe in St. Tammany Parish.

MADISONVILLE, La. — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office arrested a 14-year-old Madisonville-area junior high student after it was discovered on Monday that the teen had allegedly prepared a "hit list."

The student was issued a summons Tuesday for L.R.S. 40:1B Menacing and later released to a parent on a custodial agreement to appear in court.

Sheriff Randy Smith heralded his office's commitment to keeping school communities safe in St. Tammany Parish.

“We will continue to work with our schools to investigate any and all threats on our schools and the students who attend them, and enforcement action will be taken when warranted,” Sheriff Smith said.
