SLIDELL, La. — A post on the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office's Facebook page went viral Wednesday, with over 1,000 likes and 100 shares in just a few hours.
It's uncertain if it's the story or the way it was written that has caught social media by storm.
The post all stems from a group of runaway pigs, one of which was spotted on the loose off Dixie Ranch Road in Slidell, La.
The STPSO named one of the strays "Miss Piggy" and described her as the "squeely" type.
According to the sheriff's office, once "Miss Piggy" was cornered – calamity ensued.
In all, it took a collective effort from several deputies to successfully wrangle the sow and take her to St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services, where her cohorts were already in custody.
The post read:
"𝙊𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙍𝙊𝙉𝙔 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚..... There’s likely gonna be various pics (and possibly vids) going around the ole 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙥𝙥, and we like to get ahead of the joke if we can. Heck… let’s just embrace it. A call recently came out regarding a stray MISS PIGGY running loose off Dixie Ranch Rd. in Slidell…. Definitely the SQUEELY type.
Just moments after this photo was captured, things got 𝙒𝙊𝙉𝙆𝙔, and there was definitely more than a brief foot pursuit thru the woods which caused Deputy John Dugas to drop his “Bag O’ Lettuce.” (Yea… we just had to say that with St. Paddy’s day creeping in.) Deputy Joey Schwindling makes a sad attempt to rope MISS PIGGY…. (𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘺'𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘦 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘧𝘧.) Praise Gawd our farm raised 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗻𝘀 was on scene and saved the day with her roping abilities. I guess this is the right time to let our fam know Deputy Daniel Owen is now Sgt. Owen and he transferred to our TRAINING DIVISION. Hence why he wasn’t on scene.
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗱 Attempts were made to locate the owners and no such luck . Miss Piggy was brought to the St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services where she was reunited with 4 of her co-defendants . Apparently, she and her buddies busted out. If these are your pigs (𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀... 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗨𝗦), please go get your critters by showing proof of ownership. Thank you and everyone please keep your livestock contained and as always…. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗿."
The STPSO is asking the owners of "Miss Piggy" and the rest of her parcel to please pick them up as soon as possible. Proof of ownership is required.
