LACOMBE, La. — A GofundMe has been launched for the woman who was attacked by a convicted sex offender at a Lacombe laundromat.
The GoFundMe identified Brecan Morgan as the woman who was attacked.
40-year-old Nicholas Tranchant walked into the laundromat with a sharp weapon and tried to assault Morgan on March 3. Morgan fought back, got the weapon, and stabbed Tranchant.
Tranchant was taken to the hospital, where he died. Morgan was also injured and taken to the hospital. She’s expected to recover fully but is unable to work at this time because of her injuries.
The GoFundMe organizer told WWL Louisiana that she set up the fundraiser with Morgan's permission.
"I set up the GoFundMe with Bre’s permission. No one had set one up for her yet and I know she deserves the support from the community, so I decided to be the one to get it started for her," said Morgan's friend Erica M.
All the funds will go to Morgan for her medical bills and other important expenses.
"I’m just trying to make a positive situation out of a horrible one. No one deserves to be attacked like that, especially not a single mother who’s just trying to do laundry for her and her family," stated the organizer. "Bre works as a mental health technician and she cleans houses on the side. Because she was stabbed during the attack, she isn’t able to work right now to support her children. No one deserves that. She deserves to not have to worry about money after something like this,"

Here is what the GoFundMe page says:
This fundraiser is for Bre Morgan to help with her recovery. On Sunday, March 3, Bre was attacked by a sexual predator at a laundromat in Lacombe, Louisiana. She was just doing laundry for her and her children when she was attacked by the man, who was wielding a knife. The man dragged her to the bathroom and attempted to sexually assault her. By the grace of God, Bre was able to fight back and free herself from the attack. The perpetrator has since died. Bre was stabbed by her attacker during the struggle, so she was immediately rushed to the hospital once help arrived. Bre is a hardworking professional who makes a living by cleaning homes. However, she has been forced to put her career on hold. If you have the means, please consider donating to help support Bre during this difficult time. Every dollar counts and will go towards ensuring that she can get back on her feet and continue to provide for herself and her family. Money will be used on medical bills as well as other important expenses.
