SLIDELL, La. — Firefighters in St. Tammany Parish battled a fire at an apartment complex in Slidell Sunday night.
The blaze broke out at the Tall Pines Apartments on Kostmayer Avenue.
Dramatic cell phone video captures the moments as flames shoot out of the rooftop of an upper-level apartment.
"The tenant for the apartment involved returned home after attending a Super Bowl Party. When he opened the door to his apartment, he described heavy black smoke billowing out of his apartment, which immediately turned into flames," said St. Tammany Fire Protection District No.1 spokesperson Jason Gaubert.
"911 was called. Upon arrival, firefighters made an interior attack on the fire and were able to put a quick stop on the fire, keeping it from spreading throughout the apartment complex. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
The Slidell Police Department says no one was hurt in the fire and it is believed that everyone inside the complex made it out safely.
Few details are available as to what caused the fire which is under investigation.
