KENTWOOD, La. — The State Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal structure fire that occurred in the early morning hours on Wednesday, Jan. 31.
According to a post on SFM social media, the Kentwood Fire Department responded to a call in the 71000 block of U.S. Highway 51 just after 4:30 a.m. and upon arrival of the burning structure, which was described as an old bait shop, firefighters found the body of an elderly woman inside the building.
Chief Bryan J. Adams said the deceased woman was a resident of a nearby mobile home.
This investigation is ongoing.
