Driver killed in Washington Parish crash

WASHINGTON PARISH, La. — Louisiana State Police say a driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Washington Parish on Tuesday.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. on LA Hwy 10 near Twin Pines Road.

Police identified the driver as 70-year-old Leon Curry Jr. of Franklinton.

Curry was driving on LA Hwy 10 in a 2004 GMC Sierra when, for unknown reasons, he went off the roadway and struck a culvert, according to investigators.

Police said Curry was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Curry was pronounced deceased on the scene. 

"A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Curry for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation," police said.
