BOGALUSA, La. — On Monday night in Bogalusa, there was talk of possibly disbanding the police department.
The city council ended up tabling a decision that would create a cost-savings committee to look into the department's finances.
It's at the request of Bogalusa mayor Tyrin Truong who's had a contentious history with the police chief.
Truong says he wants the sheriff's office to take over law enforcement for the town, which has had an issue with crime in recent years.
The council will take up the measure again at its next meeting in January.
Last year, Truong called on Police Chief Kendall Bullen to resign after a lawsuit alleging the police department committed civil rights violations.
