AMITE CITY, La. — The man accused of killing his girlfriend and kidnapping her two daughters, one he ended up killing as well, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail Monday.
Last month, Daniel Callihan was arrested following a crime spree that left Callie Brunett dead in her Loranger home, an Amber Alert after her two daughters were missing and assumed in danger, and then the death of Erin Brunett, whose body was found in the woods near Jackson, Mississippi after more than a day of tracking Callihan and his alleged accomplice, Victoria Cox.
Callihan's appearance in his booking photo in Louisiana is in stark contrast to his booking photo last month in Mississippi. Gone is Callihan's long locks and facial hair, replaced with barely any hair at all.
Being booked into the Tangipahoa Jail, Callihan faces the following counts:
- 2 counts of first-degree murder
- 2 counts of aggravated kidnapping
- 1 count of second-degree kidnapping
- 1 count of armed robbery
- 1 count of unauthorized entry
- 1 count of simple arson
- 2 counts of theft of a firearm
- 1 count of burglary of a residence
Following his arrest in June, Callihan made a stunning announcement as he was being walked to be transported. He said that he had killed the child and talked about being on various medications.
Despite that admission on camera, Callihan entered a plea of not guilty. The death penalty is a possibility.
