COVINGTON, La. — Two Covington men were arrested Thursday after Louisiana State Police said they committed crimes against children online, according to the Louisiana attorney general.
The Louisiana Bureau of Investigations, the intelligence gathering wing of the Louisiana State Police, spearheaded the investigation that led to the arrests of Randolph Wesley Burge Jr., 45, and Karam Abdalbaqi, 25, according to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill on Friday.
"Both arrests were a result of a joint undercover chat operation," AG Murrill said on Friday. "Both Burge Jr. and Abdalbaqi were booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail."
The two men each were arrested on two counts of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor. Burge was also charged with obstruction of justice.
Louisiana State Police collaborated with Northshore parish sheriff's offices for this investigation, as well as the United States Secret Service.
According to Murrill, another man was arrested in the sting operation, but that case was handled by Covington Police.
