NEW ORLEANS — Dense fog caused some major problems for commuters Thursday morning.
The heavy fog forced the Causeway Police to restrict traffic to the right lane only in both northbound and southbound directions. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph so drivers should expect delays.
The traffic restriction comes after police briefly closed the Causeway Bridge in both directions before reopening it to just one lane. Drivers are urged to slow down, use their headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead.
National Weather Service issued a Dense Fog Advisory which remains in effect until 10 a.m. for portions of southeast Louisiana and southeast and southern Mississippi.
WWL-TV's Meteorologist Payton Malone says there's a chance fog could hang over the Causeway most of the day. Usually, the heat of the day moves the fog out.
