Boil advisory lifted for area in St. Tammany Parish

The advisory was due to a water main break in Covington.

COVINGTON, La. — The Water Works District No. 2 water system in St. Tammany Parish rescinded a boil advisory on Friday morning following repair to a broken water main that occurred on St. Landry Street in Covington, La., on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

According to the district officials, the areas affected included St. Landry Street, Garland Street (East of Bullard St. only and Chandler Street (between Bullard St. and St. Landry only).

The district said water samples collected came back negative from testing with the Louisiana Department of Health and that customers could use their water without any further treatment.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOILING WATER

Bring water to a rolling boil in a clean container for a full minute. If the water has a flat taste afterward, shake it in a bottle or pour it from one container to another.
