MANDEVILLE - The body of a person last seen swimming in Lake Pontchartrain near the Fontainebleau State Park fishing pier on Sunday afternoon has been recovered, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Around 5 p.m., State Park Rangers called the sheriff’s office for assistance in reference to a swimmer missing.
A short time later, the body of the swimmer was recovered by St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Units 500 yards west of the fishing pier in seven feet of water, the sheriff's office says.
The body has been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office. Monday the coroner identified the swimmer as 23-year-old Luis Landaverde.
