NATALBANY, La. — The Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of two people, who according to troopers, were not wearing their seatbelts late Tuesday afternoon.

The three-vehicle accident occurred shortly before 5:05 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 1064 at Greco Road in Tangipahoa Parish. Two residents of Independence, including 26-year-old Devarious Robinson and 64-year-old Joe Pittman were killed – both were unrestrained.

Robinson was allegedly driving northbound on Greco Road in a 2015 Chrysler 300 with Pittman in the backseat when the car entered the intersection directly in the path of an eastbound 2020 GMC Sierra, which struck the Chrysler on the driver's side. A 2019 Chevrolet Traverse being driven in the opposite direction on Hwy 1064 struck debris from the initial collision.

Both Robinson and Pittman were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the GMC was properly restrained, along with two passengers, sustained minor injuries and all were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse was uninjured and provided a breath sample that tested 0.000g%.

As part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology tests were performed on the drivers of the Chrysler and the GMC.
