PONCHATOULA, La. — Investigators believe the two people found shot to death in a Tangipahoa Parish home Monday died in a domestic incident, Sheriff's officials said.
According to officials, deputies with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office were checking on a resident at a home in the 39000 block of Kraft Road in Ponchatoula when they found two people shot to death inside.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards identified the deceased as 41-year-old Mica Sood Fitzhugh and 44-year-old Robert Wolfe, both residents of Kraft Road.
Edwards said through investigation, authorities believe the incident to be "domestic in nature." As a result, no suspects are being sought in connection to the deaths.
According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies were asked to check on a resident in the house in a routine welfare check on Monday when they made the discovery.
The scene outside the home was active with multiple police present Monday afternoon. Sheriff's deputies and Louisiana State Troopers were on the scene throughout the day.
The Tangipahoa Parish Coroner's van left the scene at about 4:30 p.m.The Coroner's Office will now conduct a full forensic review on the bodies.
A quite community was left in shock Monday after the double shooting in their normally peaceful neighborhood.
Neighbors on Kraft Road like Lane Lea said they were shocked to hear the news.
“I would have never thought something like this would happen right down the street down from where I live...just shocking," Lea said.
"Everybody is too themselves -- very quiet, just all you hear is cars passing by your house," he said. "
Lance Whittington, another neighbor, said they would pray for the family.
"Everybody knows everybody pretty much around here, definitely in the neighborhood. It’s crazy, it’s absolutely insane," Lea said.
Louisiana State Police are assisting the TPSO in the investigation, which they say is ongoing.
