NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell cut the ribbon at the grand opening of a new E-Sports Lab at the Milne Recreation Center on Tuesday.
According to the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, the Milne E-Sports Lab on Franklin Avenue is a "significant step forward in providing innovative programming" for local youth.
NORD says the Milne E-Sports Lab joins the newly completed facility at the Cut-Off Recreation Center in Algiers in demonstrating a commitment to equipping young people with access to technology and recreational programming.
"The E-Sports Labs at the Milne and Cut-Off Recreation Centers are more than gaming spaces, they are an investment in our city’s youth,” said Larry Barabino, Jr., CEO of NORD Commission. “These facilities offer a safe and innovative environment where teens can develop critical skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and digital fluency. We are excited to expand opportunities for New Orleans' future leaders to thrive in today’s tech-driven world."
