Two men and two women were shot in the Central City area Saturday evening, a spokesperson with the New Orleans Police Department said.
Initial reports from police said three people were shot, but NOPD spokespersons have told WWL-TV's Duke Carter that four people were shot.
One man was shot in the chest. Another man was shot in the stomach area, and two women were shot in the leg, one of whom was only grazed.
The spokesperson told WWL-TV that all victims were in stable condition, including the man who was shot in the chest. All victims were taken to a hospital.
Police officers in the area heard the gunshots and received calls for shots fired, the spokesperson said. As NOPD officers arrived they saw the shooting victims.
Initial NOPD reports show the men are both 28 years old, one woman is 19 and the other is 36.
The shooting happened Saturday around 6:25 p.m. near Dryades and Second streets, three blocks from St. Charles Avenue.
Multiple parades were scheduled to roll on St. Charles Avenue three blocks away from the shooting Saturday.
