51-year-old motorcyclist killed on Chef Highway bridge, NOPD says

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a motorcycle crash that left a 51-year-old local man dead.

The accident happened Sunday at about 6:53 p.m., in the 5400 block of Chef Highway.

According to investigators, the driver of a motorcycle was traveling westbound on the Danzinger Bridge (Chef Highway) when for reasons unknown lost control of his motorcycle and struck the guard rail.

The NOPD said the driver of the motorcycle was ejected from his motorcycle over the guard rail onto the street.

Emergency Medical Personnel pronounced the driver of the motorcycle dead on the scene. The accident remains under investigation. The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and will release the identity of the victim.
