3-alarm fire in Treme damages 5 homes, displaces 7 people, NOFD says

The fire erupted at a home in the 1000 block of North Rocheblave near Saint Philip Street at about midnight Monday, NOFD reports.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans firefighters battled a big three-alarm fire overnight in the Treme neighborhood that damaged five homes and displaced seven people.

The fire erupted at a home in the 1000 block of North Rocheblave near Saint Philip Street at about midnight Monday.

The fire started in a shed in the backyard of a home on Ursuline Avenue and then spread to the balcony of a blighted fourplex.

The fire had spread to five other homes displacing five adults and two children according to an NOFD report. No word on if anyone was living in the home that first caught fire at the time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
