NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Fire Department responded to a garbage truck fire in the Lakeview neighborhood on Tuesday morning.
Just before 11 a.m., crews began battling a blaze when an IV Waste truck caught fire.
The fire occurred near General Haig and Harrison Avenue.
IV Waste owner Sidney Torres told WWL Louisiana the fire was caused by an electrical issue on the truck.
Torres said the driver did not want to risk any hazards by trying to put it out herself, so she let the truck burn.
There were no injuries in the incident and no homes impacted.
No citations were given either.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area until the scene is cleared.
