NEW ORLEANS — Scrim, a stray terrier-mix dog known for his daring escapes and life on the streets, was spotted in a New Orleans neighborhood days after his most recent breakout.

As our partners at The Times-Picayune report, a 15-second video captured on a security camera shows the scrappy dog devouring kibble on a porch before disappearing into the night.

Bria Renee Broussard, who routinely feeds stray cats in her Carrollton neighborhood, said she was stunned to find the notorious dog on her property. "My friends and I were freaking out when we realized he paid me a visit,” Broussard said in a Facebook message to our partners at Nola.com.

Scrim’s latest escapade began on Nov. 15 when he leaped 13 feet to freedom from a second-story window at the home of Michelle Cheramie, director of Zeus’ Rescue pet adoption agency.

Despite efforts to secure him, the Houdini-like dog gnawed through a screen and fled. He traveled roughly 30 blocks before being captured on video at Broussard’s home.

Scrim became infamous after escaping multiple times and eluding capture, transforming him into a local celebrity of New Orleans’ streets.

Once rescued from a Terrebonne Parish shelter where he faced euthanasia, Scrim continues to reject domestication, despite repeated efforts to place him in safe homes.

As our partners report, Cheramie, who spearheaded recovery efforts, asks residents to avoid chasing Scrim. Anyone who spots the dog is urged instead to text his location to 504-231-7865.
