New rules for Jazz Fest Thursday

The sold-out show will include changes from scheduling, to prohibited items and vendors.

NEW ORLEANS — For those of you heading to Jazz Fest for the Rolling Stones on Thursday, you need to be aware of some new rules. The sold-out show will include changes from scheduling, to prohibited items and vendors.

Pay attention because if you don't follow them, you could be stuck outside talking to security.

According to our partners at Nola.com, the Lagniappe Stage, the Rhythm Pourium Tent, the Ochsner Children's Tent, and the Allison Miner Music Heritage Stage won't be open on Thursday, May 2.

Most on-site vendors will be open but some, like craft vendors, will close earlier than normal.

Here's what you can bring:

  • small bags
  • backpacks
  • bottled water
  • A12-pack cooler or smaller
  • push strollers

Don't bring:

  • Blankets or tarps
  • hard-sided or rolling coolers
  • glass
  • tents or shade canopies
  • umbrellas bigger than 63"
  • video and audio recording equipment
  • wagons
  • chairs bigger than 19" or with rockers, footrests or side tables

For those who don't want to deal with the crowd, there's the option of watching a broadcast of the Stones performance at Congo Square.
