What to know about traffic, public transportation as Swift shows begin

The three-day concert series could bring 150,000 people to downtown New Orleans.

NEW ORLEANS — Ahead of Taylor Swift’s 3-show stint in New Orleans, the City released the following traffic and road closure updates.

Key Road Closures Due to Construction:

North Rampart, Iberville, Burgundy, and Canal Streets Road Construction Project:

  • Iberville Street Closure: Closed from Rampart to Burgundy

  • Intersection Closure: The intersection of Iberville and Burgundy is temporarily closed for valve repairs by the Sewerage and Water Board (SWB)

  • Lane Closure on Rampart: One lane remains open on Rampart between Canal and Iberville to allow for limited vehicular access

  • Lane Closure on Canal: Canal Street is reduced to two travel lanes between Burgundy and Rampart

Julia Street Road Construction Project:

  • Ongoing concrete patching repairs are underway on Julia Street from Carondelet to Okeefe. This lane reduction will continue until completion estimated for November.

Traffic Signal Information:

  • Canal at Rampart: The traffic signal is experiencing timing issues

  • Rampart at Julia: Stop signs have been posted while signal repairs are underway

  • Tulane/Common at Rampart: Signals are flashing red

There will also be adjustments to public transportation. In a statement released Thursday, the RTA said:

  • The Algiers Point-Canal Street Ferry will add a second vessel to accommodate the anticipated increase in ridership, with ferries leaving every 15 minutes instead of every 30 minutes (Friday – Sunday, Oct. 25-27).

  • The 202 Airport Express bus that runs round-trip between downtown and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will feature an additional two buses on the route so that riders can get to and from the airport every 30 minutes instead of every 90 minutes, now through Monday (Oct. 28).

  • RTA will make additional service adjustments as needed. Riders can expect detours around the downtown area during the concerts.
