NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans will welcome Super Bowl fans to the city in the best fashion the city knows how – with a Mardi Gras parade.
New Orleans will host Super Bowl LIX on February 9 and to celebrate the parade will roll on February 8 as our partners at The Times-Picayune report.
“I think this event will be the thing that everybody, visitors and locals, all do to get a taste of the Super Bowl,” said float builder and producer of the Super Bowl parade Barry Kern, told the newspaper. “Everybody will just go out on the streets.”
He said the look and feel of the Super Bowl parade is still being finalized, and no official route has been discussed but the parade could feature as many as 20-float on loan from Mardi Gras krewes.
Some floats could be sponsored by corporations something prohibited for Carnival Krewes but don’t apply to the NFL our partners report.
The parade will also feature high school and college marching bands, celebrities, and of course, riders will have throws for the crowd.
