NEW ORLEANS — Nearly 300,000 low-income Louisiana families will receive summer grocery benefits for their children on Friday, June 21.
The EBT benefits are for children between ages 5 and 18, who receive SNAP benefits. This comes after Governor Jeff Landry previously rejected the program, and he said he believes it's unnecessary.
But after pushback from other officials, the Department of Children and Family Services put $71 million into the program.
The program will give eligible families $120 dollars on Friday and it must be used within 122 days.
