NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Federal City Pool reopened on Saturday following its closure for repairs, the city announced.
Residents on the Westbank were without a pool for most of the summer. In June the city said " it could take up to three weeks for the pool to open," but it didn't have a clear timeline. The closure left some Algiers residents frustrated.
Now, those residents can swim with repairs completed at the Federal City pool. On opening day, the city extended pool hours until 5 p.m.
"The community is invited to come out to take advantage of the extended hours. NORD Commission looks forward to seeing everyone back at the pool and having a fun and safe swimming experience," the city said in a release.
Starting next week regular hours will be Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The Federal City Pool is located at 2220 Constitution Street in New Orleans.
