New Orleans Pelicans players and renowned local artist Brandan 'BMIKE' Odums and his nonprofit organization Eternal Seeds collaborated on a mural in honor of Black History Month. The mural project is titled ''I Am Because We Are", celebrating African American heritage and unity within the New Orleans community.

Pelicans players joined young local artists to create a concept that embodied the spirit of Black History Month, with the idea of "standing on the shoulders of giants" and uplifting generations to come.

Players bounced basketballs in paint and developed sketches reflecting their own interpretations of Black History Month with the young artists.

After the unveiling, the mural will be auctioned online starting Friday, Feb. 23 until Saturday, Mar. 16 and all the proceeds will be to support Eternal Seeds, Larry Nance Jr.’s “Zero Hunger Challenge”, and CJ McCollum’s non-profit initiatives throughout the New Orleans community.

Bidders can participate in the auction via Eternal Seeds.
