NEW ORLEANS — Orleans Parish Criminal District Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier was named chief judge of the criminal court.
The two-year appointment began on Jan. 1, according to a news release sent Tuesday. Judge Flemings-Davillier, 54, succeeds Judge Robin Pittman, who held the post for last two years and remains on the bench, our partners at Nola.com reported.
Flemings-Davillier has served over a decade on the court. From 2010 to 2012, she presided as judge in Orleans Parish Juvenile Court. She also served as Deputy Chief Judge in 2011 and 2012. She presides over Section B, one of a dozen criminal court sections.
As chief she will over see the court's "administration, operations, programs and budgetary matters," according to the release.
According to our partners at Nola.com, she is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy High School and attended college and law school at Loyola University.
Flemings-Davillier said as chief, she plans to continue working with the Criminal District Court Team to "enhance the court's technological capabilities for efficient case processing and tracking," and improve intervention programs, according to the release.
