NEW ORLEANS — A funeral for long-time Louisiana politician and New Orleans councilmember, Jackie Clarkson, will be held on Tuesday, Jul. 9.
Clarkson's funeral service will be held at the St. Louis Cathedral at 2 p.m.
On Monday, Jul. 8, visitation will be held at the WWII Museum, Freedom Pavilion from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Clarkson, mother of award-winning actress Patricia Clarkson and member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1994 to 2002, served on the city council during multiple tenures, including 1990-94, 2002-06 and 2007-2013.
She passed at 88 years old.
Clarkson was remembered as a "fierce defender" of the community she loved.
