Flash flood warning lifted for southeast Louisiana

The flash flood and thunderstorm warning was lifted.

NEW ORLEANS — A flash flood warning was issued for southeast Louisiana after heavy thunderstorms swept through the area Saturday afternoon.

The flash flood warning was in effect until 6:15 p.m. Neutral ground parking was allowed until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued the alert at 3:05 p.m. 

New Orleans, Chalmette, Metairie, Gretna, Terrytown and St. Bernard parish are under the warning.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parish until 5:15 p.m.

The National Weather service followed up with a severe thunderstorm warning for southeast Louisiana until 5:30 p.m.

Please don't block intersections, streetcar tracks, sidewalks, or bike paths.

Avoid flood waters
-NEVER drive through flood waters. It's dangerous for you, your vehicle, and can push water into nearby homes and businesses.
-If water rises around your car, abandon the car immediately.
