While hospitality workers count down to the extra coins, some Saints fans aren't as optimistic about the upcoming season.

NEW ORLEANS — As players put their training to the test on the gridiron, opinions are already forming off the field about the upcoming football season.

“We said Brian Kelly was the guy. I don’t think Brian Kelly is the guy anymore. This is the fifth time we’ve lost our season opener over at LSU," Justin Thompson said.

“I know Coach Brian Kelly said he needs to do a better job as a coach, but I thought there were a lot of good pieces that could be put together," Sidney Loughlin said.

LSU Head Coach, Brian Kelly, wasn't hiding his frustration over this weekend's 27-20 loss to USC in Las Vegas.

“We’re sitting here again. We’re sitting here again talking about the same things. About not finishing when you have an opponent in a position to put them away, but what we’re doing on the sideline is feeling like the games over," Kelly said, "And I’m so angry about it.”

As some Tulane fans pointed out, the Green Wave beat the Trojans two years ago.

“I mean clearly, I think Tulane’s program is still better. Roll Wave," Walker Simms said.

“I don’t know if currently Tulane could beat this USC team," Jacques Gachassin said.

Tulane fans are hopeful there won't be many upsets for the Green Wave this season.

The team has a big game ahead on Saturday as they take on #18 K-State.

“They’ve worked really hard all summer to get ready for this game, and I’ve got faith in my boys," Jake Schapiro said, “I think they’re going to take care of business this weekend.”

Speaking of business, Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar is one of many local spots gearing up for a rush of football fans.

“Football season starting, especially coming off of a three-month slow period, it relieves a tremendous amount of pressure off of each employee individually," Hostess, Lakiba Despenza said, “We look forward to working through the next five months you know.”

While hospitality workers count down to the extra coins, some Saints fans aren't as optimistic about the upcoming season.

“If I had to put my money on the Saints, I wouldn’t. That’s just me. That’s just me," Thompson said.

But a safe bet is that Southeast Louisiana is ready for football season.

This Weekend's Games:

Tulane v. K-State at Yulman Stadium Saturday, Sept. 7 11:00AM

LSU v. Nicholls at Tiger Stadium Saturday, Sept. 7 6:30PM

Saints v. Carolina Panthers Sunday, Sept. 8 12:00PM
