City of N.O. welcomes Vice President Kamala Harris and thanks Usher for foundations

This will be VP Harris’ third Essence Fest appearance. The city also recognizes Usher for his foundations, including the Our Block Community Rebuilding Initiative.
The magazine unveiled four new covers for its July and August issue, which commemorates the festival and its relationship with the city.

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans is celebrating the 2024 Essence Festival of Culture. With Vice President Kamala Harris set to make an appearance and multi-Grammy and award-winning artist Usher to perform, the city recognizes the festival's 30-year achievements.

On Saturday, Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to hold a conversation with Essence CEO Caroline Wanga during the Global Black Economic Forum. 

This will be VP Harris’ third Essence Fest appearance in a row. 

The city also recognizes Usher for his foundations New Look Foundation and Our Block Community Rebuilding Initiative.

“We applaud Usher’s music and entertainment success and thank him for his commitment to help the people of New Orleans through his foundations,” says Mayor LaToya Cantrell.

The Vice President is scheduled to speak at 5:15 p.m. and Usher will headline at the Caesars Superdome, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his “Confessions” album.
