City Park CEO stepping down in July

Lambright served over New Orleans' largest public park for three years. Vice President Rebecca Dietz will take over as CEO, effective immediately.

NEW ORLEANS — City Park will have new leadership soon. The City Park Conservancy announced that CEO Cara Lambright will be stepping down from her role in July on Tuesday.

Lambright served over New Orleans' largest public park for three years.

“We have accomplished so much together, supported by two dynamite boards and dedicated donors, and have set the Park on solid footing for generations to come," Lambright said in a release. "From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all the people that have helped make this happen - for their vision and stewardship, and for their trust in me.”

The conservancy said Lambright will be returning to her home, the state of Texas to run another urban park.

"Lambright led the Park through the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Ida recovery, rebounding from severe financial deficits to outperform budgets three years in a row," the release said.

Under Lambright's leadership, the Park invested more than $1 million in storm water management improvements, updated essential Park attractions and launched new programming.

They also announced that Vice President Rebecca Dietz will take over as CEO, effective immediately.
