HOUMA, La. — The viral sensation pet Neuty the Nutria was pardoned on Saturday at the Rougarou Fest in Houma.

Owners of Neuty were presented with the pardoning by Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser.

Back in March, the Lacoste family were granted permission to keep the nutria under certain conditions by the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF).

According to our partners at NOLA.com, the conditions are that Neuty must:

  • Receive regular veterinary checkups
  • Be caged while at the seafood shop
  • Be shielded from shop customers seeking to touch it, as they had before.

It was all smiles for the family and Neuty as they posed with the pardoning plaque at the festival.
